Routing, DSP Limits and Latency in Multi-Effects
A processor’s usable capacity is the routing it can run simultaneously at the quality and latency the job requires.

Published block counts may depend on algorithm type, sample rate, path assignment or device mode. Build the heaviest intended preset with stereo blocks, parallel paths and external loops before assuming spare capacity.
Understand latency as a sum
Converters, pitch algorithms, look-ahead processing, digital loops, USB buffers and software monitoring all contribute. Manufacturer figures for one stage do not describe the complete playing path, so compare feel using the same routing and monitoring destination.
Design graceful limits
Reserve enough capacity for a practical replacement block and keep a simplified fallback preset. When a preferred algorithm exceeds available resources, reduce parallelism or choose a lighter block according to musical priority rather than rebuilding during a show.
