Cab Simulation, Impulse Responses and FRFR Speakers
A direct amp-modeling chain needs a convincing speaker stage and a monitoring system that does not unknowingly add another guitar cabinet.

Cabinet simulation or an impulse response captures the frequency and time behavior of a speaker, enclosure, microphone and placement within a linear snapshot. It does not reproduce every nonlinear interaction, but it supplies the crucial filtering missing from a raw preamp signal.
Match output mode to destination
Use cabinet simulation for PA, recording, headphones and full-range monitors. When feeding a conventional guitar speaker, bypass the simulated cabinet unless the specific creative result is intentional. Save destinations as explicit output configurations.
Compare IRs at matched loudness
Small microphone and position changes can alter brightness and low end dramatically. Level-match candidates, audition in the mix and keep a limited, labeled working set. Verify supported length, sample rate, file format and storage before buying external IR libraries.
