Hybrid rigs
Integrating Stompboxes with a Multi-Effects Processor
A hybrid rig should preserve the pedals you value while letting the processor simplify routing and recall.

Pedals before the processor behave like a conventional front-end chain. A send/return loop lets presets reposition or bypass external devices. Pedals after the processor affect every output unless a split or dedicated path is created.
Match gain and conversion boundaries
Confirm whether each loop supports instrument or line level and set send and return for unity without clipping. Every analog-to-digital conversion can add latency and level consequences, so use loops because their routing value exceeds their complexity.
Coordinate switching
MIDI-capable pedals can recall settings with the processor; simple pedals may need loop switching. Keep manual access for emergency use, label loop assignments and test preset changes with sustained notes to reveal gaps or abrupt tails.
